See that hole behind? That is the airbox inlet, recieving very little airflow.

So the grill middle was removed (it will be repainted in textured black later on). If I can find something suitable to channel air it can be scooped through the gap to provide a (very) small amount of ram-air effect.

One strut built up with refurbished caliper. New lowered shock insert ready to be fitted. 'As new' discs were fitted from a 325i, these are changed a few weeks later before fitting with some nice new grooved items.

A quick flash of silver paint to the 325i rocker cover (what was I saying about aesthetics not being a priority?) Oh well.

Quick adjust of the tappets which, conversely to normal on M20 engines, were set too tight with zero gap - not great for the rockers as we shall see later on...

Remember the BBS wheels? Repainting was pretty successful, the addition of lime green pin stripes (a la superbike) helps to give the exterior of the car a small touch of colour.
Toyo T1R tyres were fitted, a great budget performance tyre and spectacular value for 15" wheels.

Trial fitting of some rather small (but very light) race mirrors. They will be sitting lower on plastic base plates.

Looking a bit meaner with a section of grille missing!

The scuttle area access panel was also covered in bonded deadening material. After spending half an hour one evening scraping it all off I decided it was still a bit too heavy..

And so remade the panel from some high quality and very light Nimbus heatshield material.
Here it is fitted in the cleaned and stripped engine bay - all ready for its new powerplant.

More coming very soon..
